The Alan Parsons Project es un grupo británico de rock progresivo formado en 1975. Estaba liderado por Alan Parsons, Eric Woolfson y en él participaron varias alineaciones de músicos, así como el arreglista y director de orquesta Andrew Powell.
Cada uno aportaba su granito de arena al grupo: Alan Parsons como productor, ingeniero y compositor; Eric Woolfson como productor ejecutivo, compositor y vocalista; y Andrew Powell como orquestador y arreglista. Además se rodearon de una serie de músicos y vocalistas para cada uno de sus proyectos entre los que se encontraban como músicos Ian Bairnson, David Paton o Stuart Elliot y como vocalistas el propio Eric Woolfson, Lenny Zakatek, John Miles, Chris Rainbow o Colin Blunstone entre muchos otros.

Lanzaron varios discos con un gran cuidado en la producción y creatividad como: 'Tales Of Mystery And Imagination', 'I Robot', 'The Turn of a Friendly Card' o 'Eye in the Sky', y donde se destacan temas como: "Don't Let It Show", "Time", "Eye in the Sky", "Silence & I" u "Old And Wise".
A finales de los 80, Eric Woolfson abandonó el grupo para dedicarse a componer para musicales de teatro, sin embargo volvieron a reunirse momentáneamente con el breve proyecto 'Freudiana'. Alan Parsons ha seguido creando nuevos temas pero firmando con su nombre (sin el Project), debido a problemas con la parte de los derechos que mantenía Woolfson sobre el nombre del grupo. Actualmente en sus giras vuelve a rescatar el nombre original, con permiso de Eric, denominándose Alan Parsons Live Project.

The Alan Parsons Project was a British group of progressive rock formed in 1975. It was led by Alan Parsons, Eric Woolfson but other several musicians also participated, as well as the music arranger and director Andrew Powell.
Each one contributed to the group in different way: Alan Parsons like producer, engineer and composer; Eric Woolfson like executive producer, composer and singer; and Andrew Powell made the orquestations and arrangements. In addition, there was a series of a musicians in the different projects, such as Ian Bairnson, David Paton or Stuart Elliot or singers as Eric Woolfson himself, Lenny Zakatek, John Thousands, Chris Rainbow or Colin Blunstone between many others.
They made several albums, always taking great care in the production and creativity such: 'Tales Of Mystery And Imagination', 'I Robot', 'The Turn of to Friendly Card' or 'Eye in the Sky'; with songs so famous such "Don't Let It Show" , "Time" , "Eye in the Sky" , "Silence and I" or "Old And Wise".
At the end of the 80's, Eric Woolfson left the group to dedicate himself to compose for musical comedies. Nevertheless they returned to meet momentarily in the brief 'Freudiana' project. Alan Parsons has continued creating new songs but signing with his name (without the Project), due to problems with Woolfson about the rights on the name of the group. Today Parsons uses the name, with the Eric's permission, under the tittle Alan Parsons Live Project.
